90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? viewers are confused about why new father Asuelu Pulaa is not helping raise his children, making Kalani Faagata take over. Asuelu and Kalani are back and having a rough time with their two little boys under the age of 2. Last fans saw the couple they were getting their marriage back on track only to find out they were expecting. Asuelu is struggling with not being the man of the house. Asuelu’s customs are not helping him adapt to the American way of parenting.
On a sneak peek for Sunday’s all-new episode viewers watched the couple, along with Kalani’s mother pack up the car to drive to California to celebrate their son, Kennedy’s second birthday. Ahead of the trip cameras caught the tail end of a family discussion which included the Samoan’s in-laws and his wife. The three were against Asuelu’s plea to go to Samoa amid a measles outbreak. The father of two visibly looked upset while he tried to explain that he felt ganged up on. Asuelu truly believes it was okay to travel with his children but lost the battle in the end.
During the car journey, Asuelu did not try to hide his disappointment with the decision and it led to a heated argument between Kalani and his mother-in-law. The couple had stopped to switch seats so Kalani could have a chance riding upfront. While the journey continued Asuelu made the flippant comment that dealing with the children was easy. Kalani and her mother both questioned what he meant by his statement. The Samoan continued to say the women’s work, especially "American women’s work was easy." He tried to explain that American women have machines to wash their clothes or dishes while Samona women have to use their hands more. The thoughtless remarks did not sit well with the two women. Kalani’s mother even yelled at Asuelu for how he was talking to her daughter. Still ready for a fight, Asuelu made it known that he would speak to Kalani however he wanted.
Since the beginning of the season, Asuelu has been looking like the villain since he has let his sexist ideas slip. He was surprised that his sons had a female doctor and ignored his wife’s plea for help with the children, instead of leaving her to play volleyball. Even though fan's hearts broke for Asuelu as he tried to explain why he needed volleyball since it is a huge part of his American life, many believe he does need to find a balance because he is not living in his home country and in Utah it is expected that he helps equally with the children. Fans hope his wife came to educate him in the modern world's way of thinking.
