In the Harry Potter films, and in the books, Slytherins get a bad rap. If a casual observer was to pick which house would be the least fun to hang out with, they might just say Slytherin. That's not really fair, or true, especially with a common room situated under the Black Lake.
This would make their common room particularly well-suited for film viewing (due to a lack of light) and (in the movies at least), it looks as if Slytherin could fit the most students in their common room. Slytherins may not be fans of fart humor, but they should certainly appreciate the genius and timing it takes to pull off a really great comedy.
10 Love - First Wives Club
What's more likely to be appreciated by a Slytherin audience than a film about women sticking together and assisting one another in getting vengeance against the men who have wronged them. Slytherin's are loyal to their own and definitely believe in defending themselves when they have been wronged, and that's what First Wives Club is all about. The storyline along with the incredible laughs provided by the incredibly talented Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keaton would be a hit.
9 Hate - Talladega Nights
The low brow complaining humor behind Talladega Nights is not likely to find many fans among a Slytherin audience. Even beyond the type of humor the story of two NASCAR drivers would not likely be on the top of any Slytherin viewing list. What would Draco Malfoy or Albus Potter make of Will Ferrell running around in his underwear screaming that he's on fire? The expressions on their faces would be more amusing than they would find the film.
8 Love - Clue
When Clue was originally released in theaters different theaters had different endings, and no one knew until they compared notes with their friends. That trick and history alone would be enough to make Clue a hit to Slytherin viewers. Add in the mental exercise of trying to solve the murders as they appear on screen and Slytherin humor and ambition would certainly be satisfied by a viewing of the film based on the classic muggle board game.
7 Hate - Zoolander
Like Talladega Nights the oblivious idiocy of the main characters in Zoolander would likely frustrate Slytherin viewers more than entertain them.
While Slytherins probably have no problem laughing at someone rather than with them, that doesn't mean that they want to spend their leisure time surrounded by the very people they probably spend a good portion of their lives trying to avoid. Apparently Will Ferrell isn't a star to Slytherin viewers.
6 Love - Animal House
Not every Slytherin comedy has to be a high brow exercise. While Animal House has its fair share of gross-out jokes, the loyalty of the house would certainly appeal to a Slytherin mentality. Taking it to the man (meaning school administrators) would also appeal to a house that has so long been abused by the Dumbledore regime (look at how the House Cup was stolen from them in the first Harry Potter book and film). Animal House would likely make every Slytherin viewer feel vindicated and appreciated.
5 Hate - Beetlejuice
The magic in Beetlejuice would likely be off-putting to Slytherin viewers, to begin with, add to that the goody-two-shoes personalities of the ghosts played by Alec Baldwin and Gina Davis, and there's little in the Tim Burton classic to make it appeal to a Slytherin audience. Include the conga dance scene and the fact that there's a classical happy ending and that means Beetlejuice is likely a comedy to avoid when entertaining Slytherin friends or family.
4 Love - Bridesmaids
Bridesmaids is smart, honest, and very sarcastic, a perfect combination in any comedy meant to appeal to a Slytherin demographic. As Maya Rudolph's Lillian says, "Why can't you be happy for me and then go home and talk behind my back later like a normal person?" it feels like she's defining all Slytherin friendships, not just the friendships appearing on the screen. Bridesmaids is both sidesplittingly hilarious as well as honest and sarcastic. It's the perfect film for a big Slytherin party get together.
3 Hate - School Of Rock
Besides the musical aspect of School of Rock, or the gross-out humor of Jack Black, Slytherins are not likely to appreciate the feel-good success of a bunch of children in school uniforms.
The story might raise a few too many memories of Gryffindor house to be enjoyable to watch. While breaking the rules in school and ignoring authority figures might be appealing, it probably isn't enough to make this one a comedy that Slytherins overall would like in any way.
2 Love - Tropic Thunder
Tropic Thunder is a film that lampoons the film industry, particularly executives and big stars, and how can a Slytherin not appreciate that? As the underappreciated house what's not to love about the big stars (like the famous Harry Potter) being absurd in reality, or the men with the power and the money being jerks just like it's always been imagined. Add to that the smart script, the jokes about awards and reality, and there's not a Slytherin who couldn't appreciate Tropic Thunder.
1 Hate - When Harry Met Sally
A movie that's all about the main characters getting together and living happily ever after? No thank you. When Harry Met Sally is well acted and well written, but Slytherin viewers would never appreciate the logic that gets ignored once Harry and Sally get together in the end. Men and women can't be friends, the film proposes. It's an absurd statement if you're actually cunning or smart enough to be able to make your own choices which Slytherins certainly are.
