Game of Thrones Fan Draws Accurate Daenerys Targaryen From Book Description

A new piece of Game of Thrones fan art draws Daenerys Targaryen with her book accurate appearance. HBO's hit fantasy series, which debuted in 2011, was based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels. So far, there have been five novels within the series, and fans have been eagerly (and impatiently) awaiting the sixth, already titled The Winds of WinterMeanwhile, Game of Thrones the TV show has already come to an end, with its eighth and final season airing in 2019. Even though it's been over a year since the last episode, fans still remain fiercely divided on how it ended.

The majority of audiences responded negatively to the final season of Game of Thronesciting issues with pacing, character arcs, and extremely poor lighting. On the subject of arcs, Emilia Clarke's Daenerys is often on the top of the list of characters whose journeys ended up mangled by the eighth season. Fans were largely disappointed with how, instead of becoming the strong queen of Westeros who breaks the wheel, Daenerys succumbed to the supposed Targeryen madness and burnt King's Landing down to ashes. Clarke herself has stood by her character, though recently she admitted she was annoyed with how the Game of Thrones finale went down.

While there are many elements of Game of Thrones that remain accurate to Martin's novels, Daenery's appearance varied slightly. In the Song of Ice and Fire series, Dany actually has purple eyes, and artist VK Cole took that into account when dreaming up a book accurate look for her. You can see it for yourself in the space below.

Daenerys' story on the small screen may have come to an end, but House Targaryen will live on in HBO's planned prequel series House of the Dragon. The show, which is still in the early stages of development, will focus on the Targaryens 300 years before Game of Thrones begins. While this means the world of Westeros will get some new development, it also tragically means there won't be any Daenerys.

In the last episode of Game of Thrones, Daenerys died after being stabbed by her nephew/lover Jon Snow (Kit Harington). Her body was last seen being carried off by her beloved dragon Drogon, and some fans have theorized that there could be a way to bring her back. If that were to happen, however, it's unlikely it would ever be on a television series. Still, if fans want to imagine an alive and well Daenerys Targaryen, there's nothing standing in their way.
