Spider-Man: Oscar Isaac Becomes 2099 Version In Spectacular Fan Art

Actor Oscar Isaac becomes Spider-Man 2099 in impressive fan art by Apexform. As the name implies, Spider-Man 2099 is a future version of the character. However, in this case, the man behind the mask is Miguel O'Hara, a geneticist. He receives his powers during an incident with a co-worker, which causes his DNA to be altered, giving him Spider-Man like powers. The character made his first full appearance in the 1992 comic Spider-Man 2099 #1. The Marvel 2099 imprint not only features a future story for Spider-Man, but also Hulk, Doom, Punisher, Ghost Rider, and several others.

Spider-Man 2099 has appeared in other forms of media, including TV shows and video games. So far, the character has made only one film appearance, in 2018's critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The animated movie follows the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man as he helps return many other Spider-characters to their own worlds. Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Isaac, doesn't appear until a post-credits scene. However, it's likely he'll have a role in the movie's upcoming sequel. In the scene, he uses a watch that lets him safely move between dimensions, which would prove helpful to other Spider-characters. Ultimately, the moment with Spider-Man 2099 ends up being a humorous one, as he visits the world seen in the 1967 Spider-Man animated series.

As Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an animated film, Isaac doesn't actually appear, but instead voices the character. However, artist Apexform has suggested a jump to live-action for Spider-Man 2099, thanks to fan art showing Isaac in the role. Apexform specifically suggests a Disney+ show for Isaac's Spider-Man, though that would be prove tricky, considering Sony still owns the character. Check out the image featuring Isaac as Spider-Man 2099 below:

Though a live-action series with Spider-Man 2099 isn't too likely right now, hopefully fans will find out soon exactly what role he'll play in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2. The upcoming sequel currently has an October, 2022 release date. During a watch party for the first film earlier this week, producer Phil Lord revealed the movie will feature many "surprises," but also admitted he wasn't allowed to tease anything more specific. Some general plot points are already known, such as that it could feature Japanese Spider-Man. It will also focus on the relationship between Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen.

The Spider-Man 2099 fan art shows just how well cast Oscar Isaac was in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It's no wonder the artist and others are hoping for a live-action series featuring him one day. Isaac's appearance in the movie's post-credits scene was a fan-favorite, especially because of his funny interaction with Spider-Man from the animated series. Hopefully, fans will see Spider-Man 2099 again when Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 releases in 2022.
