Pokemon Stadium Perfectly Recreated In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

One Animal Crossing: New Horizons player demonstrated their Pokemon obsession and creation skills by building a Pokemon stadium on their island. Animal Crossing, the relaxing and adorable town simulator, has taken the world by storm in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, already outperforming its expected lifetime sales and sending Nintendo Switch sales through the roof. The game's gorgeous visuals, soothing gameplay, and lovable characters provide millions with a beacon of wholesome creativity and, in some cases, a replacement for social gatherings and even professional sports announcements. Many players have used the game's extensive customization tools to pay tribute to their favorite media franchises, like a re-creation of the garage from Rick & Morty.

One of the most popular franchises re-created within Animal Crossing is Pokemon, the legendary video game, anime, and trading card series that's graced every Nintendo handheld console since the mid-90s. Pokemon's pixel art aesthetic, charming pastoral vibes, and hundreds of adorable animals are all easily captured within New Horizons. Players have modeled their towns based on the Pokemon original starting area, or even replicated the visuals of a Pokemon overworld using the in-game Custom Designer and lots of talent and dedication. One user went viral on Reddit after using some of Animal Crossing's more realistic animal models to make their own adorable Pokemon battle.

Now, via Twitter, user @zapsuit has continued the crossover tradition with their very own Pokemon stadium. The stadium is similar to many official Pokemon battles seen in the shows and games, complete with lighting and audience seating. Most impressive is perhaps the custom design Pokeballs, which are perfectly round and symmetrical (a frustratingly difficult to achievement in New Horizons). The stadium isn't zapsuit's only Pokemon-themed island area: the entire island is shaped like a Pokeball, as evidenced in further tweets. Generously, zapsuit also posted the QR codes for other PokeFans looking to bring a slice of Kanto to their island.

Over a month out from its release, Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to surprise users with the flexibility of its customization tools. Some of the most talented creators are even getting paid to be interior designers for other players hoping to have the perfect virtual homes. Detailed strategy guides are selling out as sales of New Horizons continue to break records, and villagers look to create the next viral island.

While the conversation about New Horizons is starting to shift toward its lack of easy-to-implement quality of life changes, the creativity it inspires shows no sign of slowing down, as a new jaw-dropping island or tribute seems to drop every day. With Nintendo announcing that the game will keep seeing updates for the foreseeable future, expect to continue being astounded by Animal Crossing: New Horizons creations for a long time.
