While Star Trek: Picard was officially confirmed before the first season even premiered, nothing about its characters or plot could be revealed until fan reactions from season 1 came in. 10 PERFECT THEORY: SEVEN HELPS REHABILITATE THE XB'S
As part of the Fenris Rangers, Seven of Nine committed herself to helping the less fortunate in the Neutral Zone, especially former Borg like Icheb. Now that she's briefly made herself the Borg Queen of the Artifact, will she fight for the rights of ex-Borgs everywhere?
Though many were flushed out into space by Narissa, Borgs have been known to survive in space, and there were still plenty left on the Artifact when it landed on Coppelius. The XB's will need someone to help them reintegrate into Federation society, and it makes perfect sense for Seven to be their ambassador.
9 HILARIOUSLY BAD: DOCTOR ALTAN SOONG IS LORE
When Picard and his motley crew reach the synthetic homeworld of Coppelius, they encounter brilliant cyberneticist Dr. Altan Inigo Soong, son of the famous Dr. Noonian Soong who built Data. His human offspring has carried on his work and, together with Bruce Maddox, has created flesh and blood synthetic life.
Fans predicted that Soong's son was actually Lore, who had managed to program himself to age (thereby hiding his identity). While it would make sense for Lore to want to transmit a signal to synthetic destroyers from another dimension, it's highly unlikely Soong is him. The apocalypse was diverted, and Altan is human going into Season 2.
8 PERFECT THEORY: ELNOR JOINS THE FENRIS RANGERS
Elnor was introduced as an interesting character in Season 1, but no sooner had he saved Picard's life and joined his motley crew then he was side-lined. He failed to protect Hugh aboard the Artifact, and couldn't be of any help when Seven of Nine became the Cube's temporary queen.
As a member of the Qowat Milat, Elnor pledged himself to the Way of Absolute Candor, and to those whose mission is considered a "lost cause." Now that Picard is a synthetic and no longer debilitated by a brain malady, Elnor needs a new cause. It seems highly likely he'll help Seven of Nine with hers.
7 HILARIOUSLY BAD: NAREK WILL HIJACK THE BORG CUBE
Though Dahj and Soji were twins, they had a third more malevolent sister named Sutra, who was an older model developed by Dr. Altan Soong. Sutra took a shine to Narek, and helped him escape his imprisonment on Coppelius.
Some fans have wondered if Season 1 is the last time Sutra and Narek will be featured, and posited that he may try to kidnap her since Soji rejected him. This makes little sense, considering Narek was more than likely turned over to the Federation authorities once Coppelius was under Starfleet protection.
6 PERFECT THEORY: VOYAGER'S EMH WILL RETURN
Star Trek: Picard introduced an interesting version of the EMH program to the Star Trek Universe aboard the La Sirena. Captain Rios had used it to duplicate four hologram copies of himself for security, navigation, medical, and hospitality purposes.
Robert Picardo, famous for playing the original EMH on Star Trek: Voyager, has said his agent has been contacted by CBS about him joining the cast for Season 2. He was always very close to Seven of Nine, so perhaps his appearance will relate to her storyline, or perhaps he'll help Rios with fine-tuning his EMH program.
5 HILARIOUSLY BAD: THE ADVANCED SYNTHETIC LIFEFORMS WILL RETURN
The final episode of Season 1 made it pretty clear that the synthetic life forms from an alternate dimension are likely to stay there, thanks to Soji dismantling the beacon that called them to Coppelius. Does it mean that someone else could still open a portal and release them?
While it may happen in another season, Season 2 seems to be charting a different course away from the Dooms Day storyline. The less that's known about them the better, allowing them to remain an eldritch horror, no matter how much some fans insist they'll be back.
4 PERFECT THEORY: PICARD WILL HAVE DIFFICULTY ADJUSTING
With Picard in a new synthetic body but his neural map intact, Star Trek: Picard's next season embarks with a new conundrum that has its roots in classic sci-fi. If a person is defined by their experiences, ethics, and memories, are they still a person if their body has changed?
Picard will have to adjust to his new body as a synthetic. In philosophical terms, this is the paradox of "Theseus's ship," in which a mythical Grecian ship has every single one of its planks replaced over its existence, causing the debate of whether it's still the same vessel if it has a new "body," just like Picard.
3 HILARIOUSLY BAD: THE BORG QUEEN WILL RETURN
Seven of Nine became the unlikely "Borg Queen" when she took control of the Artifact in Season 1, prompting some fans to think that a true Borg Queen will return to the Alpha Quadrant with the rest of the Borg in Season 2.
Not only does the series not need to have another Borg threat, Picard and company will need to have their mettle tested with an antagonist that hasn't already had several TNG storylines and films devoted to it.
2 PERFECT THEORY: NARISSA WILL SEEK REVENGE
In the madcap season finale, Seven of Nine engages Narissa the Zhat Vash agent in brutal hand-to-hand combat, which results in Seven Sparta-kicking Narissa into an endless shaft in the Artifact and leaving her to die. A body was never discovered, prompting some fans to think Narissa could return to seek revenge.
She's been known to instigate instant site-to-site teleportation whenever she needed a quick escape, and after Commodore Oh's disgrace at the hands of the Federation, Narissa may return to declare herself leader of the Zhat Vash.
1 HILARIOUSLY BAD: PICARD WILL CONNECT TO DISCOVERY SEASON 3
Both Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Discovery have been divisive series, with fans citing displeasure with their overall dystopian tone veering away from Gene Roddenberry's original utopian vision for Star Trek.
Some fans have surmised that since Season 3 of Discovery takes place in a distant future where the Federation isn't a main power player, it will somehow cross-over with Picard, which presented a xenophobic and isolationist Federation. However, Picard ended on an uplifting note, with the Federation lifting the ban on synths, so it seems unlikely it will keep marching towards a depressing future.
