Hayden Christensen's Star Wars Work After The Prequels: Everything He's Done

Hayden Christensen is best known for playing Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels, and while his time in the film saga came to an end with Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, he hasn't stayed far away from the franchise. The history of the Star Wars universe can be divided in three: the original trilogy, the prequels, and the sequel trilogy. Of course, there have been other works in between, such as The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and all those works now considered non-canon and labeled as Expanded Universe or Star Wars Legends.

The original trilogy has a very special place in the hearts of Star Wars fans, but the same can’t be said of the prequels. With George Lucas in charge of directing and writing, Episodes I to III were panned by critics and are a frequent topic of discussion among Star Wars fans, of which some have managed to “forgive” them – especially since the sequel trilogy came out. The newest films got their dose of criticism and hate, and it’s this negativity what has made actors from the prequels and sequels stay away from the spotlight and leave social media (or not join at all). Among those is Hayden Christensen, Anakin Skywalker in the prequels.

Christensen played Anakin in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, where he also got to wear the Darth Vader suit. Hayden Christensen has done a number of films since he left the Star Wars universe, but he continues to be linked to it somehow.

Although he hasn’t worn his Jedi outfit nor the Darth Vader suit since Revenge of the Sith, Christensen has taken part in a couple of Star Wars projects, though not as you probably think. His voice, scenes from the films, and outtakes have been used in a couple of Star Wars video games, TV shows and specials, most notably the series Star Wars Rebels and the video games Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Lego Star Wars: The Video Game (all of these uncredited roles). His latest “appearance” in the saga was in a voice cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as one of the many voices of past Jedi.

Christensen has also attended various conventions since the prequels came out, as well as Star Wars Celebration. Along with Ian McDiarmid, he was a guest in a panel at Star Wars Celebration 2017, and joined the fun again in 2019, though this time as one of the cast members in the autograph area. One of his most recent and publicized Star Wars appearances post-prequels was his visit to Galaxy’s Edge, where he built his own lightsaber, entered the Millennium Falcon, and more. Whether fans like it or not, Hayden Christensen is part of Star Wars history, and as such, Lucasfilm will find ways to keep including him in its events and other properties, even if just through archive material.
